Beamable Network has secured $13.5 million in Series A funding to enhance its decentralized gaming infrastructure. This significant investment, disclosed on Tuesday, was led by BITKRAFT Ventures, a well-known early-stage venture firm focused on the gaming sector. Additional contributions came from a diverse group of investors, including Arca, Advancit Capital, 2Punks, P2 Ventures, solana Foundation, Scytale Digital, defy.vc, Grand Banks Capital, and Permit Ventures. Jon Radoff, CEO and Co-Founder of Beamable, emphasized the platform’s aim to usher in a new age of scalability and inclusivity for developers by leveraging the proven success of existing technologies while integrating decentralized principles.

The funds raised will be directed towards expanding the Beamable Network, which recently announced the launch of the Beamable Foundation on January 27. This initiative is designed to revolutionize gaming through open-source technology and a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN).

Beamable’s Vision for Decentralized Gaming Infrastructure

As a trailblazer in decentralized gaming solutions, Beamable aims to diminish the centralization of gaming services currently dominated by hyperscalers. The company’s objective is to construct a robust and decentralized back-end infrastructure that enhances live gaming operations while alleviating the burdens often faced by developers. Beamable’s evolution from creating popular games such as “Game of Thrones Ascent” and “Star Trek Timelines” has now positioned it to offer comprehensive back-end solutions to game developers.

The Beamable Network plans to offer token incentives and encourage community participation, enabling contributors to provide computing power, storage, and networking resources. This will give developers customizable access to build their own software modules and services within the network, promoting open-source development and the creation of a tokenized protocol as a versatile alternative to conventional cloud providers.

With the gaming industry projected to generate approximately $205 billion in revenue by 2025, Beamable is strategically positioned to emerge as one of the leading DePIN projects upon launch.

🚀 Big news! Beamable has raised $13.5M Series A led by BITKRAFT Ventures to power the Beamable Network—a top-10 DePIN project bringing decentralized infrastructure to gaming.

Addressing Challenges in Centralized Gaming

Centralized gaming faces numerous challenges, including exorbitant infrastructure costs, server overloads leading to crashes—which have plagued games like Fortnite and Apex Legends—privacy concerns, and risks associated with censorship and platform control. The advantage of DePIN networks lies in their ability to distribute workloads across multiple nodes, significantly reducing server overload incidents and downtime.

Moreover, blockchain-based identity systems provide gamers with access to services without requiring exposure of personal data. This shift empowers players to earn cryptocurrency rewards directly, circumventing intermediary cuts. By facilitating true ownership among players and developers through decentralized infrastructure, the gaming industry stands on the verge of transformative growth.

Other Influential DePIN Projects in Gaming

In addition to Beamable, several other DePIN initiatives are spearheading change within the gaming industry, including:

  • Filecoin (FIL) – Focused on decentralized game asset storage
  • Arweave (AR) – Provides permanent storage for game data
  • Livepeer (LPT) – Facilitates decentralized video streaming for gaming content
  • Theta Network (THETA) – Innovates with peer-to-peer game streaming rewards
  • Xai Network – Offers blockchain infrastructure for Play-to-Earn models
  • GameSwift – Develops a decentralized ecosystem for gaming

Beyond gaming, DePIN projects are emerging in various sectors, including Helium, which is revolutionizing wireless IoT and 5G networks, and Render, which is working toward distributed GPU rendering capabilities.

The momentum generated by Beamable and other DePIN projects highlights a growing trend in the industry towards decentralized solutions. This evolution signals a shift that may redefine how games are developed, played, and monetized, ultimately reshaping the landscape of the gaming sector as we know it.
